The Screening Interview
Our interview process is carefully crafted to ensure we find candidates who not only meet the requirements of the role but also align with our culture and values. We see hiring as a two-way process—it's just as much about you finding the right fit as it is about us.
The journey begins with the Screening Interview, where we get to know you a little better. This stage is designed to explore your background, experience, and motivations, while also giving you a chance to learn more about the role and how we work. It’s an opportunity for an open and honest conversation, helping us both determine whether this could be the right next step for you.

The Role Fit Interview
If successful, you'll move on to the Role Fit Interview—an in-depth conversation where we explore your skills, experiences, and how they align with the demands of the role. This stage goes beyond the basics, giving us a chance to discuss real challenges, past projects, and practical scenarios relevant to the position. We want to understand not just what you’ve done, but how you think, problem-solve, and collaborate. It’s also an opportunity for you to get a clearer picture of what the role entails and how you’d contribute to and grow within our team.

The Culture and Values Assessment
Next, we have the Culture and Values Assessment assesses your motivation, coachability and accountability in the workplace by exploring some of your previous professional relationships. Informal in style and conducted by our CEO Bob Leung, this stage helps us explore key traits we use to measure an individual’s capacity to thrive in GrantTree’s somewhat unconventional environment. At every stage, our aim is to ensure a mutual fit, making certain that joining our company will be a beneficial and enriching experience for both you and us.

GrantTree was founded in 2010 by Paulina Sygulska-Tenner and Daniel Tenner out of their drive to provide tangible value to the burgeoning tech startup ecosystem. They were also deeply passionate about creating a living example of the future of work: where people are trusted, valued, and treated as whole humans.
The business grew rapidly and became known for its high quality service. When both founders exited in 2019, Nicky Johnson took over as CEO with a remit to scale the business and expand our impact.
In 2024, we were joined by now Chairman and CEO, Bob Leung. With over a decade of leadership experience, he’s passionate about creating self-driven teams and shaping company cultures that truly value and uplift their people. His mission is simple: to build not just great companies, but great places to work.
Over the years, GrantTree has significantly contributed to the growth of innovation in the UK, securing over £400 million in non-dilutive funding.
